Role:
Solo-Designer
Description:
This is a lamp I designed and built for my metal-working class. I wanted to create something that did not contain downward light, so the lamp is designed to either face you and provide direct light, or turn to diffuse off the wall or the corner of the room. It is created to fit in with both a brutalist aesthetic as well as mid-century modern.

Take-away:
This was my first experience working with metal which was an entirely new set of material affordances in comparison to other materials I have designed with. In the future I would switch out the lights for a long contiguous strip light to diffuse more strongly, and I would apply a stronger clear coat to prevent finger prints from being left behind on the base.
